Message from the Committee South & West Wales Group
Of The Motor Caravanners Club Ltd
We have now had confirmation that subject to any changes made at the 26th March Corona Virus briefing by the First Minister, Buttyland hope and plan to be open for the Easter Weekend.
Clarification of the Stay Local rule will be required at the Briefing.
Subject to this we are working on the assumption our planned TC at Buttyland will go ahead.
As this is the first TC under strict Covid 19 prevention rules there are a number of changes to how we can operate at the Campsite.
The event will be pre-bookable – No confirmed booking no space available with us. Anyone turning up on spec without a confirmed booking will be turned away. Booking details will follow
There can be no socialising outside your own household, however at present a maximum of 4 people from two households can meet outdoors whilst maintaining social distancing.
Masks and good hygiene are essential.
There will be a limit of 30 members van attending (excluding Hosts etc) When/if fully subscribed a holding list will operate.
Only fully paid up members of South & West Wales Group can book and attend.
There can be NO visitors to the site including family who are not part of the TC
Bookings are on a first come first served basis.
Booking for the TC will open at 10AM on Thursday 25th March and not before.
All booking will be via telephone to our Acting Chair Betty on 01443 260 382
PLEASE do not try to book before the official opening time as you will not be accepted.
ONLY Betty can take your booking.
• To make the booking please have to hand the following information:
• Your Membership number
• Names of ALL people who will be in your van
• Contact details - Mobile phone number if possible
On arrival you will be given an instruction sheet and an envelope for your payment. Please have either the correct money to put in the envelope, no change can be given, or you can pay by cheque but the instruction sheet will have careful details of how to fill in the cheque. (Banks are very fussy these days. Please have your own pen with you to complete the front of the envelope, we cannot share pens.
We do not know as yet what local services including buses, trains, shops etc will be available.
Remember you must be self sufficient to comply with the rules at this stage of relaxation.
Thank you for your patience over effectively the last 12 months. Let’s hope with the accelerating vaccination programme all this misery will soon be behind us
Best Wishes and Stay Safe

Operation of Temporary Campsites:
Many of you are asking when will we be operating our first Temporary Campsite?
Earlier this week there was a Club zoom meeting with representatives of most of the regional groups that was intended to ensure everyone knew what would be required and possible timetable etc.
Firstly, it’s very important to understand that the only dates quoted so far are applicable to England ONLY. The devolved regions, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland will set their own rules and timetable.
The next review from the Welsh Government is not due to be published until 12th March (next Friday) until that time we are still in a stage four lockdown and effectively confined to home.
There have been rumours that there may be some easing around self-catering accommodation in time for the Easter Holiday, but these are RUMOURS not facts.
However, in order to be ready to start as soon as possible after the green light is given, the group committee met yesterday via zoom to sort out some of the basics.
Firstly, the type of venue: There are two options,
A commercial campsite, such as Buttyland or Brownhill in New Quay where the responsibility and operation of the campsite is the duty of the site owners or
A private site Field / school etc where we effectively ‘lease’ the ground for a period of time and the responsibility and operation of the campsite is the duty of the group and the campsite marshals.
In each case at the start up of camping the site must be operated as Covid compliant sites.
I.E. There must be self-contained units only, no shared facilities (toilets / washroom facilities) no shared indoor spaces.
We cannot meet socially in groups of more than one bubble at anytime and anywhere, even out of doors. Social distancing must be maintained at all time. You cannot visit or enter any other person’s van, awning, gazebo or tent for any purpose.
All events will be pre-bookable with a limit on numbers attending (the number dependent upon the site rules). It is probable that any events held this year will be bookable in advance.
Typically, we will open the booking window about 7 days before the event is due to start. If over-subscribed, there will be a holding list. Anyone who arrives at an event for which they have not got a confirmed booking will be turned away.
Anyone who attends an event and is seen to be transgressing the Covid safe compliance, such as visiting another van or not maintaining social distancing will be asked to leave the venue. There will be no refund of any fees paid.
At the time of booking, we expect you to provide contact details, I.E. Name, Membership Number, Van registration, contact phone details.
On arrival at a venue for which you have a confirmed booking, you will be provided with an envelope for the event fees, please allow the event marshals to view the money being placed in the envelope. On the front of the envelope, you will write the van registration, Names of all people in the van complete with contact details. Please provide your own pen. No change will be given at the venue, so please have the correct amount of cash or use a cheque correctly made out. If you have electronic banking, payment can be made by bank transfer.
At the event, there will be no ‘Coffee Morning’ nor will any raffle tickets be sold nor prizes distributed.
The above may sound onerous, but failure to comply may risk the site, the group and the individuals involved receiving penalty fines.
If the above is unacceptable to you then please do not attend the event.
